Creating a Receipt (Receiving a Payment)

To create a receipt (also known as receivee a payment):

  1. Go to Sales->Receipts and click the plus symbol to add a new receipt.
  1. Select the Client and type in the payment amount.
  1. Choose a payment type, for example, Business Check or the specific credit card type and fill in any further details relating to the type of payment you entered.
  1. Choose which AR Items to apply the payment to by clicking on the plus under Distribution Items. This will bring up a dialog asking what type of AR Item you will apply this payment to first. If you select 'invoice', a section called 'Invoice AR Items' will appear with a dropdown that shows the posted Invoices for the client. Click 'add' and the payment will show under Distribution Items. Repeat this step as many times as necessary to distribute the full amount of the receipt.
  1. Change the status of the receipt to collected on the right side and check the box for 'ready to post'.
  1. Click 'save' to be taken back to the Receipts screen. If you want to finalize the receipt, select the receipt you just created and use the gear icon to 'post receipt', however, you may want to wait until the payment is final before doing so.

You receipt has now been entered into phpBMS and if it was posted it should now decrease the amount owed by the client.
